Hey , guess what? Fort Leonard Wood is starting a new program to make it easier for people to get onto the installation without all the hassle . They ' re calling it the trusted traveler program . Basically , certain Department of Defense card holders can bring guests with them without having to show ID at the gate . It ' s all about speeding up the process and keeping things running smoothly . They ' ve also made some other changes , like upgrading the ID scanners and letting graduation guests pre - register . The program is open to service members , their spouses , DOD employees , and retired service members and their spouses . No need to sign up or anything . Just keep in mind that contractors , foreign military members , and people under 18 can ' t be brought in under this program . And the number of guests you can bring depends on how many seats are in your car . You ' ve got to stay with your guests the whole time they ' re on the installation or else you could lose your trusted traveler privileges . Oh , and if you break the rules , you could face some serious consequences . The program is in effect from 5 a . m . to 9 p . m . every day at all the gates . But the East Gate has different hours , so be sure to check those . Keep an eye out , though , because the program could be suspended if things get dicey . You can find more info about the program in Army Regulation 190 - 13 and Fort Leonard Wood Regulation 190 - 13 . If you have any questions about the program , just give the Fort Leonard Wood Visitor ' s Center a call at 573 . 596 . 0356 . For details on how to access the installation , check out the Fort Leonard Wood website .
