In the past two weeks , the FBI has been busy charging almost 200 people across seven field offices as part of a crackdown on drug - trafficking organizations in the US and North America . FBI Deputy Director Paul Abbate emphasized that they will continue to pursue violent criminals and ensure the safety of our communities . The FBI works tirelessly with local , state , and federal law enforcement agencies to apprehend dangerous offenders and dismantle criminal enterprises . This recent operation highlights the ongoing dedication of our personnel and the positive impact it has on our communities . For example , in Los Angeles , ten individuals were arrested for their involvement in a drug trafficking syndicate that imported and distributed large quantities of drugs . Similarly , in Columbia , a joint effort between the FBI , local law enforcement , and the US Attorney ' s Office resulted in the arrest of numerous individuals involved in narcotics , firearms , and conspiracy offenses . These successful operations demonstrate the effectiveness of collaboration and the commitment to reducing violent crime . In the past year , the FBI Columbia Field Office has been helping local and state law enforcement agencies in a big operation to find out which areas in Myrtle Beach are dealing with a lot of violence related to gangs and drugs . This joint investigation has led to 13 people facing charges in federal court . The agents have also confiscated guns , ammo , and dangerous drugs like fentanyl . The FBI Anchorage Field Office , along with the U . S Attorney ' s Office for the District of Alaska and other law enforcement partners , announced on January 25 that they have charged 53 people in connection with a big organized crime ring in Alaska . The charges include drug trafficking , violent crime , and money laundering . The investigation uncovered at least 76 money - laundering transactions , some of which were sent to Mexico . The investigation led to the seizure of 10 kilograms of fentanyl , cocaine , methamphetamine , firearms , and a lot of money . People from Maryland , Virginia , and West Virginia were charged with drug trafficking . From February 2022 to July 2023 , the police intercepted around 36 kilograms of fentanyl , 27 . 3 kilograms of meth , 11 . 3 kilograms of heroin , and 118 grams of cocaine that were connected to this criminal enterprise . Most of these drugs were meant for different communities in Alaska . The enterprise mainly used high - level suppliers to send the drugs through the U . S Postal Service from Oregon and California to various places in Alaska . On January 24 , a federal grand jury indicted 82 people for a drug trafficking operation that distributed fentanyl , methamphetamine , and cocaine . This investigation was a result of the FBI Pittsburgh , Baltimore , and Richmond field offices working together . The FBI and their partners were able to put an end to this criminal enterprise that was endangering our communities by selling illegal drugs . On January 23 , the FBI Omaha Field Office and the Nebraska State Patrol carried out an operation that resulted in the arrest of 19 people and the unveiling of at least nine indictments . These people were part of a methamphetamine distribution ring that operated in Nebraska and had connections to Kentucky and California . The people who got arrested are facing a bunch of charges , like plotting to sell more than 500 grams of meth , having a gun while involved in drug crimes , and being a felon in possession of a gun . These cases are part of the OCDETF operations , where they try to find and stop the big drug dealers , money launderers , gangs , and international criminals that are a threat to the US . They do this by using prosecutors , intelligence , and a bunch of different law enforcement agencies .
