☷US Army CBRN company assumes rotational mission near Korean Demilitarized Zone

American soldiers from the 45th CBRN Company from Joint Base Lewis - McChord , Washington , are currently on a rotational deployment near the Korean Demilitarized Zone , supporting the Republic of Korea - U . S . Alliance . They took over the mission from the 59th CBRNE Company from Fort Drum , New York , on Feb . 28 at Camp Casey , South Korea . The company is working with the 23rd CBRN Battalion , 2nd Infantry Division Sustainment Brigade , 2nd Infantry Division , and Eighth Army during their deployment . The 45th CBRN Company is part of the 110th CBRN Battalion , 48th Chemical Brigade , and 20th CBRNE Command . This deployment allows them to work alongside Special Operations forces and provide support to civil authorities . Captain Michael Vane leads the company , with 1st Sgt . Julian Ollivierre - Brewer as the senior enlisted leader . They utilize specialized equipment to detect and mitigate CBRN hazards and have incorporated Korean Augmentees to U . S . Army troops for better collaboration and understanding . Vane mentioned that the 2nd Infantry Division has really embraced the "fight tonight" mentality . They were able to conduct an emergency deployment readiness exercise shortly after arriving in Korea , showing their readiness to respond to any call to action . The 45th CBRN Company from Joint Base Lewis - McChord , Washington is currently deployed near the Korean Demilitarized Zone , taking over from the 59th CBRNE Company . Vane , the commander , comes from a military family and joined the Army to uphold the values instilled by his parents . Both Vane and Ollivierre - Brewer , the senior enlisted leader , are Ranger - qualified leaders in the Chemical Corps . Ollivierre - Brewer , originally from Oceanside , California , has been in the Army for 16 years and is proud to serve in the Chemical Corps . “Growing up , every family member spoke so fondly about their military experiences , so I always wanted to contribute to our family’s military service story , ” Ollivierre - Brewer said . “What I like about the U .
