Stony Point High School Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps had a big win at the 2024 JROTC Skills Meet in Fort Cavazos , Texas . They defended their title as grand champions for the second year in a row , beating out schools from across Central Texas in events like drill team and color guard . The team worked hard to prepare and were thrilled to come out on top . Other schools , like Irving High School Marine Corps JROTC , also participated for the first time , gaining valuable experience and community connections . The event not only showcased the cadets ' skills but also promoted teamwork and a glimpse into military life . The focus on togetherness and building strong teams was a key takeaway from the competition . Army at Fort Cavazos , presented trophies to the cadets in his closing remarks and emphasized the importance of the competition . “This gathering strengthens community relationships and also provides a free opportunity for JROTC programs to compete and maintain accreditation , ” she said . "This competition promotes exposure for different military branches to Army posts and helps us grow our own branches . " She also mentioned her own experience as an Air Force JROTC cadet . He also reflected on how it influenced his military career . “My JROTC experience played an important role in my decision to join the U . S . Army and later become an officer , ” she shared . “As you too live the JROTC experience , ” she told the cadets , “know that whatever you want to do in life , these skills will better prepare you for tomorrow . ”
