In the bustling city of Daegu , South Korea , there ' s a man named Norman Butler who has an inspiring life story . He ' s a retired U . S . Army veteran who has shown incredible resilience and dedication . Born in 1934 , Butler faced many challenges growing up , but it only strengthened his commitment to serving in the military . Despite facing discrimination and war , he served honorably in the U . S . Army Medical Department . One of his fondest memories was volunteering at the 1988 Paralympics , where he took care of the disabled American Veterans . He even got to meet famous basketball players and had an amazing experience . Throughout his military career , Butler always put his fellow soldiers first . He managed medical supplies , provided care , and became a symbol of hope on the battlefield . After retiring in 1974 , he moved to South Korea and found love in the city of Yeosu , where he met his wife Kumja . Even after leaving the military , Butler continues to support the U . S . military stationed in South Korea . He ' s a familiar face at Camps Walker and Henry , attending events and participating in gospel services . Norman Butler ' s presence shows the strong bond between the US and South Korea , built on sacrifice and respect . To his family and the Korean community , Butler represents strength , love , and dedication to service . From Team 19 to the Butler family , we thank him for his service!
