Staff Sgt . Victor Ramos from the 48th Chemical Brigade , along with his wife Sabrina , are checking the charge level on their Level 2 EV charger installed at their Cavalry Family Housing residence in Fort Cavazos , Texas . TRO Energy Solutions is handling the installation , testing , and maintenance of the charger for housing residents who sign up for the service . The demand for electric vehicle chargers has increased with the rise in popularity of electric vehicles , allowing residents at the Great Place to conveniently charge their vehicles at home . TRO Energy Solutions , in partnership with Lendlease and Fort Cavazos Cavalry Family Housing , is offering fast and easy Level 2 EV charging for residents , with various charging plans available . Staff Sgt . Ramos and his family are the first military family to use this service , having switched from a hybrid vehicle to two new EVs for cost savings and safety reasons . They quickly signed up for the Level 2 EV service when they received the email notification , eliminating the need for frequent trips to the gas station . This service demonstrates the support Fort Cavazos provides to military families , ensuring they have access to convenient and safe charging options for their electric vehicles . Chris Albus , project manager for Fort Cavazos Cavalry Family Housing , emphasizes the importance of sustainability and customer satisfaction , highlighting the initiative to bring TRO Energy Solutions on board to meet the needs of residents with EVs on the post . Albus mentioned that five families , including the Ramoses , already have Level 2 chargers , four more are set to get them , and six have applied . "It ' s starting to pick up , so spreading the word should encourage more residents to sign up , " Albus said . To sign up for Level 2 EV service , just keep an eye out for an email from housing with a QR code to register . Choose a ChargeTime plan , and an electrification specialist will reach out to arrange installation and scheduling . After the charger is installed , residents can easily manage usage , billing , scheduling , and more through the ChargeTime app or by contacting TROES via email at CHARGE@TROENERGY . IO or by phone at 757 - 800 - 1417 . It ' s good to know that starting in February , Army policy requires enrollment with a third - party provider for Level 2 EV service .
