According to court documents , undercover agents from the Bureau of Alcohol , Tobacco , Firearms and Explosives ( ATF ) posed as members of a Mexican cartel and got in touch with Rodriguez Hilario as he was known for trafficking firearms that could be smuggled into Mexico . Throughout the investigation , Rodriguez Hilario and his associates discussed buying AR - 15s and rocket - propelled grenade launchers . One of the co - conspirators mentioned that he sold AR - 15s and AK - 47s to people from El Salvador and also had cocaine available for distribution . Rodriguez Hilario even offered fentanyl to one of the undercover agents to make pills . Starting in late - 2021 , members of the conspiracy sold or arranged the sale of at least 90 rifles and one Mac - 10 - type machine gun with a silencer to undercover agents in Florida and Cleveland . In November 2022 , an undercover agent informed Rodriguez Hilario that his associates in Mexico needed more firearms because they were "battling and losing . " On March 2 , 2023 , Rodriguez Hilario agreed to deliver 40 AM - 15 multi - caliber firearms to the undercover agents . Saleh , who gathered and assembled the parts for the firearms , showed up at the meeting with Rodriguez Hilario and the agents . Once an undercover agent inspected one of the boxes of firearms , both Rodriguez Hilario and Saleh were arrested . In Tampa , Florida , a judge has given Yuendry Rodriguez Hilario from Cleveland , Ohio a sentence of 13 years and 4 months in federal prison . He was charged with conspiring to traffic firearms , possessing firearms for drug trafficking , and money laundering . Another person involved , Saleh Yusuf Saleh , was sentenced to 5 years and 8 months in prison back in November 2023 . Both Rodriguez Hilario and Saleh were arrested in Cleveland on March 2 , 2023 , with Rodriguez Hilario being ordered to stay in custody . Rodriguez Hilario pleaded guilty on November 13 , 2023 .
