☷Violent Kokomo Felon Sentenced to Over Five Years in Federal Prison after Posting Instagram Pictures of Himself Illegally Possessing a Firearm

Bradley Morgan , a 24 - year - old from Kokomo , has been sentenced to 68 months in federal prison after admitting to being a felon in possession of a firearm . The investigation began when the Kokomo Police Department Violent Crimes Task Force came across Morgan ' s Instagram posts showing him pointing guns at the camera . Morgan was already on probation and had an active warrant . In April 2021 , a search warrant was executed at Morgan ' s residence , where he was found hiding in the bedroom closet along with controlled substances , a . 40 caliber Glock with an extended magazine , and a 9mm Smith & Wesson . Due to his past felony convictions , Morgan is prohibited from owning firearms . U . S . Attorney Zachary A . Myers expressed his hope that the severe prison sentence would discourage others from carrying weapons . The collaboration between federal and local law enforcement agencies , including the ATF and Kokomo Police Department , was praised for its efforts in reducing violent crime . The case falls under the Project Safe Neighborhoods program , which aims to make communities safer by combating gun violence . The Department of Justice rolled out a new plan on May 26 , 2021 to tackle violent crime . They ' re focusing on building trust in our communities , supporting local organizations that work to prevent violence , setting clear priorities for enforcement , and keeping track of how it all plays out .
