Coach Joel Rodriguez is answering questions about a recent drill at the 2024 Wheelchair Rugby Camp . The camp focuses on building confidence and teamwork through adaptive sports . Col . Roy Walker , the Recovery Plan Division Chief , understands the therapeutic benefits of adaptive sports for wounded Soldiers . He visited the wheelchair rugby camp at Fort Belvoir and emphasized how participating in these sports can boost confidence and improve mental well - being . Walker believes that when Soldiers try adaptive sports and discover their skills , it helps them maintain a positive attitude and aids in their overall recovery . CW3 Kirk Holden , a participant from JBLM SRU , shared his experience of finding enjoyment and talent in wheelchair rugby . The camp teaches the mechanics and safety of the sport , ensuring that participants can play safely and with confidence . Walker , drawing from his experience as a Jump Master , knows that a confident instructor , like Coach Joel Rodriguez , instills confidence in the players . The participants of the camp had a great time bonding as a team and enjoying the experience . As they keep going on their adaptive sports journey in March at the 2024 Army Trials , confidence and hard work will be key for them as a team . They ' re ready to take on the challenge and try to make it onto Team Army to compete at this year ' s Warrior Games in Orlando . According to Walker , nobody on the team is scared of a challenge .
