Captain Michael Coats , the chaplain for the Allied Forces South Battalion , said a prayer for a Soldier who is deploying with the 2nd NATO Signal Battalion ' s Deployable CIS Module - A . This unit , based in Grazzanise , Italy , regularly supports NATO operations in places like NATO Mission Iraq . Typically , when an army unit deploys , there is a formal farewell ceremony , but for individual Soldiers , the experience is often different . Two Soldiers from the 2nd NATO Signal Battalion ' s Deployable CIS Module - A were preparing to leave for NATO Mission Iraq on November 12 at Naval Support Activity Naples . Although there was no drill and ceremony , there was still plenty of love , admiration , and well wishes for them . Sergeant First Class Aurelio Timoteo , the DCM - A CIS troop head , said that events like this show appreciation and create a sense of togetherness within the unit . During their mission , the deploying Soldiers will support DCM - F ( Bulgaria ) as the Signal Support Group 7 . Timoteo emphasized the importance of unit support for the deploying Soldiers and their families , as it gives them purpose and motivation to complete the mission successfully . The chaplain , Captain Michael Coats , led a prayer for the Soldiers , their families , and the rest of the unit . Timoteo highlighted the significance of unit cohesion for the success of the DCMs and praised the unit and its leaders for creating a supportive environment . He expressed pride in the deployed Soldiers and looked forward to their safe return . The 2nd NATO Signal Battalion is one of three battalions that provide communications and information systems facilities and services to NATO deployed headquarters . Nine NATO nations contribute personnel to the battalion .
