Brig . Gen . John Cushing , the head honcho of the U . S . Army Combat Capabilities Development Command ( DEVCOM ) , gave a speech at the DEVCOM Soldier technologies open house on December 8 , 2023 , in Natick , Massachusetts . The event was a chance for Army big shots and Congress members to check out the cool tech being developed by DEVCOM . Craig Rettie , the tech guru at the DEVCOM Soldier Center , also spoke at the event . Later , there was a photo op with Doug Tamilio , Katherine Clarke , Brig . Gen . David Trybula , and Brig . Gen . John Cushing . The open house was a showcase of DEVCOM ' s technology , and it was held for Army leaders and Congress members who were in town for the Army - Navy game . In Natick , Massachusetts , DEVCOM hosted a Soldier technologies open house on December 8 , 2023 , at the U . S . Army Natick Soldier Systems Center ( NSSC ) . The event was attended by Army leaders , officials from the Department of Defense , Congress , universities , and local governments . Brig . Gen . David Trybula also gave a speech at the event . David Trybula , the deputy commanding general of DEVCOM and senior commander of NSSC , thinks that the open house was a fantastic opportunity for DEVCOM to showcase its capabilities . He believes it is crucial for Army leaders , elected representatives , and community and academic partners to witness the work DEVCOM does for our soldiers . According to Trybula , this open house , which took place before the 2023 Army - Navy game in Boston , allows them to see DEVCOM technologies and innovations up close and interact with the scientists and engineers . He emphasizes that DEVCOM is the only organization in the Army that provides what they do for soldiers , and an event like this highlights those capabilities . The open house was organized by DEVCOM Soldier Center and featured technologies from other centers within DEVCOM such as the Army Research Lab , Armaments Center , Analysis Center , Ground Vehicle Systems Center , and Command , Control , Communications , Computers , Cyber , Intelligence , Surveillance , and Reconnaissance ( C5ISR ) Center . Doug Tamilio , the director of DEVCOM Soldier Center , is excited about having Army leaders and members of Congress present for the Army - Navy game as it gives them an opportunity to witness the incredible work done by the Soldier Center folks at Natick , as well as all the scientists and engineers across DEVCOM . Tamilio wants to ensure they have a chance to see the science behind the Soldier . Most of the technology displays were located in the new Soldier and Squad Performance Research Institute , a research and development facility operated by DEVCOM Soldier Center and the U . S . Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine . This facility will provide leading scientists and engineers with a controlled , technologically advanced environment to conduct multidisciplinary research efficiently . During the event , scientists and engineers from various fields across DEVCOM gathered to present the latest research and development efforts , aiming to provide advanced technologies for the Army of the future . The open house showcased the Catalyst Pathfinder Program , an initiative by Congress executed by DEVCOM ARL in collaboration with the Civil Military Innovation Institute ( CMI2 ) to support the innovation of Soldier - inspired , research - based technologies . The 3D printing capabilities of DEVCOM GVSC were also on display . Open house attendees had the opportunity to visit NSSC facilities , including the Doriot Climatic Chambers , which can replicate various climates with different temperatures , rainfall , wind , relative humidity , and solar load . Brig . Gen . John Cushing , the commanding general of DEVCOM , highlights that DEVCOM and its centers are leading the way in innovation in science and technology . “Our team of professionals are proven leaders in their respective fields and continue to develop technology and equipment that will transform the U .
