The President has nominated a bunch of Air Force and Army officers for promotion to brigadier general , according to Secretary of Defense Lloyd J . Austin III . These officers are currently serving in various positions across the country . Dawber is currently the deputy commander ( operations ) at the U . S . Army Space and Missile Command in Colorado . Elsen , currently the deputy chief of staff at the U . S . Army Pacific Command in Hawaii , is also up for promotion to brigadier general . Ewers , serving as deputy commander ( operations ) at the 7th Infantry Division in Washington , is another nominee for brigadier general . Ferris , currently the deputy commander ( maneuver ) at the 4th Infantry Division in Colorado , is also in line for promotion . Franklin , serving as NATO branch chief at U . S . European Command in Germany , is another nominee . Garcia , currently the deputy commander ( support ) at the 25th Infantry Division in Hawaii , is also up for promotion . Glass , serving as deputy director/chief of staff at the Futures and Concepts Center in Virginia , is another nominee . Goetz , currently the commandant at the U . S . Army Engineer School in Missouri , is also in the running for brigadier general . Kiniery , serving as deputy commander ( operations ) at the 101st Airborne Division in Kentucky , is another nominee .
