Polish President Andrzej Duda checked out the cool stuff at the 3rd Infantry Division ( 3ID ) headquarters in Fort Stewart , Georgia on March 13 , 2024 . Poland and the United States have a long - standing friendship and commitment to shared values . During his visit , President Duda got to see the advanced capabilities of the 3rd ID up close . This visit strengthens the bond between Polish and 3rd ID forces currently stationed in Europe . President Duda was welcomed by Brig . Gen . Jeremy Wilson , Deputy Commanding General of Maneuver for the 3rd ID . The visit included a briefing , meeting the soldiers , and a live - fire demonstration . President Duda ' s visit coincided with the ongoing deployment of the 3rd ID in the Baltic region , showcasing the strong military ties between Poland and the United States . The live - fire demonstration showcased the impressive abilities of the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team and 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade , including the Abrams tank , Bradley Fighting Vehicle , and AH - 64 Apache helicopter . The 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team is one of the most modernized and well - trained armor units in the U . S . Army . Brig . Gen . Wilson expressed gratitude to Poland for their hospitality towards the 3rd ID soldiers during their deployment , emphasizing that the 3rd Infantry Division is always ready to deploy anywhere in the world with the best and most modern combat - credible forces . In August 2023 , the Division Headquarters , Division Artillery Brigade , 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team , and Division Sustainment Brigade headed to eastern Europe as part of the NATO mission . Their goal was to train with Allies and partners to form a strong force that can counter any enemy .
