Fort Johnson ' s Army Community Service recently held a hiring event on Feb . 26 , offering a wide range of job opportunities for transitioning Soldiers and spouses . The event aimed to connect job seekers with potential employers and was organized by Stacy Delgado , the Employment Readiness Program manager . Delgado mentioned that the event was open to anyone seeking employment , not just transitioning Soldiers and spouses . The event featured 17 diverse employers in fields like healthcare , law enforcement , engineering , banking , and more . It provided various job options , from remote and part - time positions to full - time roles , for qualified applicants looking to start new professional journeys . Around 80 job seekers attended the event , which focused on building connections and relationships between attendees and vendors . Kimberly Jannone , representing Navy Federal Credit Union , emphasized the importance of stability and networking for military spouses , highlighting the support these events offer . Laura Lemere Kock , a military spouse , expressed appreciation for the opportunity to meet people and explore potential career paths at events like these . For some vendors , the event served as a way to give back to the military community and inform transitioning Soldiers and spouses about available job opportunities . Marcus McLilly , a military veteran and employer at Christus Health , shared his own experiences and the importance of informing job seekers about the opportunities they have today . The job market can be challenging to navigate , especially for individuals with varied work experiences due to military - related relocations . Vendors at the ACS hiring event understood these unique challenges and aimed to provide support . The vendors have been really understanding when I tell them the reason is because the Army keeps moving my family around , " Lemere Kock said . The event was also a great opportunity for attendees to learn and improve their interview and resume skills . Jannone stressed the importance of being confident in every aspect of the job search process , from your resume to your attitude . ACS offers classes on interviewing , resume writing , and coaching to help people navigate the job market successfully . For more information , contact ACS at 337 - 531 - 1941 .
