The US Department of Labor is once again giving a hard time to a cleaning products manufacturer in Green Bay after a worker got their finger amputated . They ' re fining the company $194K . Tufco LP has been in trouble before , in 2019 and 2021 , for not having proper safety measures in place . According to a federal investigation , the employee ' s finger got severed while working on a pump on August 18 , 2023 . The investigation found that the company didn ' t follow regulations for controlling hazardous energy during maintenance tasks , and they also failed to report the injury . The company has been cited for similar hazards in the past , and now they ' re facing penalties . The investigation revealed that Tufco LP didn ' t have proper lockout/tagout procedures to prevent employees from getting hurt by moving machine parts . They also didn ' t provide adequate training when employees were reassigned to new areas . On top of that , there was a lack of machine guarding and no respiratory protection program in place . OSHA is calling out the company for not properly assessing and mitigating potential hazards before allowing employees to work on new product lines . They ' re reminding employers to prioritize the health and safety of their workers . Tufco LP has 15 days to comply with the citations and penalties or contest the findings .
