ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Receive, identify, sort, bulk and pack household hazardous waste in accordance with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) Regional Program operations manual. Responsible for maintaining awareness of safety procedures and educating the public about laws and policies involved with household hazardous waste and problem materials. Work cooperatively with customers, public, co-workers and subcontractors. Complete daily and monthly report forms. Collect and deposit money and manage accounts for the disposal and recycling of solid wastes at the Transfer Station. Screen incoming wastes to determine acceptability for disposal or recycling. Use multifunction cash register and computers for recording type of waste, tonnage received and disposal fee.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent. One (1) year of full-time cashier, clerical, or customer service work experience or two (2) years of part-time cashier, clerical, or customer service work experience.
Preferred education to include receiving credits or pursuing a degree in one of the following: Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science or similar field. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
Training Required:
Annual MPCA training.
Certificates/Licenses Required:
Must hold a valid driver’s license and current personal vehicle insurance.
