ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Under the general supervision of the unit Social Services Supervisor, provide mental health services to children and families within the school, home and community settings; mental health services may be early intervention and/or ongoing intensive case management. Provide services to children who are eligible for special education services or are at risk to receive these services. The Family School Support Worker (FSSW) is a licensed social worker employed by the county but primarily located in an assigned school setting. The FSSW works cooperatively with schools, the county social service agency, and community resource agencies.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in social work or human services related field required. One (1) year related professional work experience in mental health, counseling, social work, child protection or corrections.
Training Required:
Must complete Department of Human Services (DHS) facilitated Children’s Mental Health and SSIS trainings within one (1) year from date of hire. Must complete bi-annual continuing education requirements for social work license.
Certificates/Licenses Required:
Licensed Social Worker. Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance. Must have demonstrated the ability to work positively in a team environment and function constructively during conflict resolution.
