ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Perform general duty law enforcement and engage in the protection of life and property throughout Carlton County. Apprehend criminals, prevent crime, serve civil process, enforce state and local laws, and promote public safety. Duties are generally performed on an assigned shift, but the deputy may be called upon to continue the duties or work assignment on other shifts and/or at other times as directed. Duties are performed under general supervision of Sergeant; however, much of the work is performed independently and deputies are required to draw upon their training, department policies and procedures, laws, and code of conduct when determining appropriate course of action.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent Four (4) years of post-secondary formal preparation/training/education in law enforcement, criminal justice, or related field Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
Note:
Must successfully pass a comprehensive background investigation; medical, physical, and psychological examination; and drug screening.
Training Required:
Must maintain MN POST Board license and mandatory continuing education related to licensure.
Certificates/Licenses Required:
Valid driver’s license with no restrictions. Must be Minnesota POST Board licensed or immediately eligible
