☷HUD Invests Nearly $70 Million to Empower Tribal Communities Across the Nation

Today , HUD announced that nearly $70 million in grant funding is being allocated to 38 Tribal communities through the ICDBG program . This funding will support the development of housing , infrastructure , and community facilities for families living on Indian reservations and in other Indian areas . This is the second round of grants awarded from the FY 2023 competition , with over $50 million going to 27 Tribal communities nationwide . HUD Regional Administrator Candance Valenzuela presented $8 million to 4 communities in the Southwest Region . The grants can be used for various purposes such as infrastructure enhancement , housing rehabilitation , and economic development . HUD Secretary Marcia L . Fudge emphasized the Administration ' s commitment to Tribal community development and thanked Tribes for their feedback in shaping the grant competition .
