☷Wisconsin Air Guard Helps Refine Air Combat Targeting

The 128th Air Control Squadron of the Wisconsin Air National Guard recently took part in a five - day exercise at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada . The exercise focused on improving weapons systems for future use and was a great opportunity for hands - on experience . The goal was to enhance tactics and procedures for better communication between operational and tactical command elements . The squadron sent seven members to participate alongside other Air National Guard units and coalition partners . The exercise aimed to test and analyze system automation and improve the speed and reliability of target nomination and notification processes . Overall , the goal was to streamline operations and free up personnel to focus on higher - priority tasks . "The C2 community is undergoing significant changes and the 128th Air Control Squadron , as part of the C2 community , is being asked to become more agile , cloud - based , systems agnostic and resilient . " The 128th Air Control Squadron has already taken steps to do so . Since returning from Nellis , the squadron has received a prototype Tactical Operations Center - Light and is testing it to provide feedback for future versions . This portable system can be quickly installed and moved in a field environment . Hamilton said it was an honor for the 128th to participate in the exercise . “My team has renewed enthusiasm and a new understanding of where we want to go as a community , and they’ve passed that on to their teams , ” she said . - - - Deb Henley , 505th Command and Control Wing Public Affairs , contributed to this report .
