☷Albany Man Pleads Guilty to Armed Robbery of a Drug Dealer in Guilderland

This case was investigated by ATF and the Town of Guilderland Police Department , with assistance from the Albany County District Attorney ' s Office . Assistant U . S . Attorneys Emmet O ' Hanlon and Joshua R . Rosenthal are prosecuting the case . Jorge L . Rosario , a 53 - year - old from Albany , pleaded guilty today to robbing a marijuana dealer and threatening them with a gun at their home in Guilderland . The announcement was made by U . S . Attorney Carla B . Freedman , John B . DeVito , Special Agent in Charge of the New York Field Division of ATF , and Guilderland Police Chief Daniel P . McNally . This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods ( PSN ) , a program aimed at reducing violent crime . PSN brings together various stakeholders to identify and address the most pressing violent crime issues in the community . As part of this strategy , PSN focuses on targeting the most dangerous offenders and collaborates with local prevention and reentry programs to achieve long - term crime reduction . Rosario is scheduled to be sentenced on July 9 by Chief U . S . District Judge Branda K . Sannes . According to his plea agreement , it is recommended that he receive a prison term of 168 to 188 months , along with five years of supervised release after imprisonment . Madera had previously pleaded guilty to armed robbery and brandishing charges and is set to be sentenced on May 3 . He faces a minimum of seven years in prison , with a maximum of life , a fine of up to $250 , 000 , and up to five years of supervised release . Rosario admitted that on January 23 , 2022 , at around 5:00 a . m . , he and Alexander G . Madera entered a house in Guilderland with the intention of robbing a marijuana dealer . Rosario stood guard in the living room while Madera stole $172 in drug money from the dealer ' s bedroom at gunpoint . However , their plans were disrupted when another person woke up and encountered Rosario . A struggle broke out over the gun , involving other residents , and Rosario and Madera were eventually disarmed . The police arrived shortly after and arrested them . Both have been in custody since then .
