D’Andre Burrus , also known as “Dopeman , ” pleaded guilty in federal court to a racketeering offense related to his involvement with the 960 gang , a violent Waterbury street gang . The guilty plea was announced by various law enforcement officials . Burrus admitted to trafficking drugs for the gang and conspiring to murder members of a rival gang , resulting in the death of an innocent bystander . He faces a maximum sentence of 20 years and has been in custody since his arrest in 2019 . The investigation was conducted by multiple law enforcement agencies and the case is being prosecuted by a team of attorneys . This prosecution is part of the Justice Department ' s efforts to reduce violent crime .
