The US Department of Labor has found that workers at an Ohio chicken processing plant owned by Case Farms Processing are being exposed to multiple hazards . The plant , which has a history of violations , failed to comply with safety regulations and put workers at risk while processing chickens for sale . The Occupational Safety and Health Administration ( OSHA ) conducted an inspection and found violations similar to previous cases , including machine guarding and trip - and - fall hazards . OSHA has cited the company for 14 violations and proposed $393 , 000 in penalties . This is concerning for OSHA , as it shows a disregard for worker safety . Since 1988 , Case Farms has been cited 70 times for violations , mainly related to machine guarding , lockout/tagout procedures , and fall and electrical hazards . The company has 15 days to comply with the citations and penalties or contest the findings .
