☷U S Department of Energy Welcomes New Biden Harris Appointees and Announces Promotions

In Washington , D . C . , the U . S . Department of Energy ( DOE ) announced today that five new appointees from the Biden - Harris Administration will be joining the DOE team . They will be working with U . S . Secretary of Energy Jennifer M . Granholm to combat climate change and help the United States achieve President Biden ' s clean energy goals . This diverse group , consisting of 60% women , 57% people of color , and 25% LGBTQ+ individuals , will play a crucial role in implementing the energy investments outlined in President Biden ' s Investing in America agenda . The Department of Energy is thrilled to welcome these talented individuals , who bring a wealth of experience and expertise to their new roles . Let ' s meet the new appointees: Tylor Collier , Special Assistant in the Office of the Secretary , is a graduate of the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy . With a strong passion for social policy and racial equity , Collier hails from Southeast Michigan and holds degrees in Social Relations and Policy , as well as Arts and Humanities from Michigan State University . Chloe Koseff , Special Assistant in the Office of Science , previously served as lead advisor on energy and agriculture policy for the late Senator Dianne Feinstein . Koseff has also worked on various policy areas for Congressman Jerry McNerney and has been a climate policy analyst for the National Audubon Society . Originally from California , she holds degrees in Earth Systems from Stanford University . Sneha Nair , Special Assistant in the National Nuclear Security Administration , brings extensive research experience from her time at the Stimson Center , where she focused on insider threat mitigation and emerging technologies . Nair has also worked at international organizations such as the Comprehensive Nuclear - Test - Ban Treaty Organization and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons . Raised in the suburbs of Chicago , she holds an MA ( Honours ) in Geography and International Relations from the University of St . Andrews in the United Kingdom . Lastly , Allie Peck , Press Assistant in the Office of Public Affairs , previously served as a Senior Legislative Affairs Advisor at the White House . Before that , she worked as a Communications Associate at Precision Strategies and held various communications and legislative positions at several nonprofits and on Capitol Hill . Peck has a B . S . in Psychology and a B . A . in Criminal Justice from the University of Pittsburgh . Alexandra Teitz , Deputy General Counsel for Energy Efficiency and Clean Energy Demonstration , Office of the General Counsel , was previously the Chief Counsel and Senior Climate Advisor for the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee . She also founded AT Strategies , where she provided policy advice to non - governmental organizations on climate , energy , and air issues . During the Obama Administration , Teitz served as Counselor to the Director of the Bureau of Land Management at the Department of Interior , handling climate , energy , and regulatory matters . She also spent over a decade as committee counsel for climate and energy issues for Chairman/Ranking Member Henry Waxman on the House Energy and Commerce Committee and the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee , ultimately becoming the Chief Counsel for Energy and Environment on the Energy and Commerce Committee . Teitz has a B . A . from Oberlin College , an M . E . S . from the Yale University School of the Environment , and a J . D . from the University of California , Berkeley , Boalt Hall School of Law . She is a member of the bar in the District of Columbia and California , and she lives in Maryland . The current appointees taking on new roles are as follows: Liz Berliant , White House Liaison , Office of the Secretary , previously served as the Deputy White House Liaison . Before that , she was the Finance Director of Operations at the Democratic National Committee . In her four years at the DNC , Berliant managed the finance operations team , played a leading role in the major donor experience for the 2020 Democratic National Convention , and assisted in running operation processes for the Biden - Harris campaign . She has held positions on various political campaigns from local to national levels . She earned her B . A . in Political Science from the University of Cincinnati . Amanda Finney , Director of Public Affairs , Office of Public Affairs , most recently worked as the Deputy Director of Public Affairs at the U . S . Department of Energy . Previously , she served as the Chief of Staff for the White House Press Office and Special Assistant to the White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki . Before joining the Biden - Harris Administration , she was the Associate Director of Policy and Communications for Sidewalk Labs . Previous campaign roles include National Deputy Women’s Outreach Director for the Mike Bloomberg presidential campaign , Louisiana State Director , and digital correspondent for Hillary for America . Grisko joined the U . S . Department of Energy in January 2021 as the Special Assistant to the Chief of Staff . She has worked in various roles within the Department , including Special Assistant in the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy . Before joining DOE , Grisko worked on the Biden Harris campaign and the Bernie Sanders presidential campaign . She also has experience in public relations and sustainability consulting in Chicago . Grisko is from Marco Island , FL and has a degree in Environmental Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana - Champaign . Hurley previously worked as a Deputy Speechwriter for the Secretary and Deputy Secretary . She has also worked as Press Secretary for U . S . Representative Adam Schiff and has been involved in various political campaigns , including the Biden - Harris campaign . Hurley graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in political science and narrative studies and is from Pasadena , California . Ward has been working in the Department of Energy under the Biden Administration for almost three years . She previously held the position of Deputy Assistant Secretary for Senate Affairs in the Office of Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs . Finney was involved in President Obama ' s 2012 re - election campaign and worked for the Presidential Inaugural Committee . She used to work in Marketing and Communications at Microsoft . Finney is from South Carolina and graduated from Wake Forest University and the Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse University . Troiano is the Deputy Director of Public Affairs and Chief Spokesperson for the DOE . She previously served as Press Secretary and Deputy Press Secretary at DOE . Troiano has also worked in communications for Democracy Forward and as Press Secretary for the Brooklyn District Attorney . She started her career as a legal journalist for the Brooklyn Daily Eagle . Troiano lives between Brooklyn and Washington , D . C . with her husband . She graduated from Vassar College and New York Law School . She used to be the Managing Director of the Clean Energy Leadership Institute , a national organization that ' s all about creating new energy leaders for a fair , strong , and clean energy system . Before that , she worked as a Legislative Assistant for U . S . Senator Jeff Merkley , focusing on energy , climate , and transportation policy . Ward comes from Portland , Oregon , and got her B .
