Today , the U . S . Department of Housing and Urban Development ( HUD ) gave out almost $20 million to 11 communities through the Indian Community Development Block Grant ( ICDBG ) program . These funds can be used for things like infrastructure , community buildings , housing rehabilitation , and economic development to support American Indian and Alaskan Native families on Indian reservations and in other Indian areas . In June 2023 , HUD made $75 million available to Tribes through the ICDBG program for community development . More awards will be announced once ICDBG reviews are finished . HUD understands how important this funding is to Tribal communities , and they want to issue awards as soon as possible to ensure that ICDBG funds reach communities quickly . HUD thanks Tribes for providing valuable feedback through Tribal consultation , which helped shape the development of this grant competition .
