☷Gang Member Sentenced to 12 Years in Prison for Racketeering Charge

A guy from the Rollin ' 60s Neighborhood Crips gang got slapped with a 12 - year prison sentence for being part of a racketeering scheme , announced U . S . Attorney Philip R . Sellinger . Tre Byrd , also known as "Bands" or "G Bandz , " 22 years old , already pleaded guilty and was sentenced by Judge Susan D . Wigenton in Newark federal court . Byrd was involved with the gang from 2015 until September 22 , 2022 , and they were known for causing violence and dealing drugs in New Jersey and other places . In March 2019 , Byrd and some other gang members killed a rival gang member in Irvington , New Jersey . Then , on June 20 , 2020 , Byrd and at least one other gang member robbed someone at gunpoint in Newark . Along with the prison time , Judge Wigenton also sentenced Byrd to five years of supervised release . U . S . Attorney Sellinger acknowledged the efforts of the DEA , IRS - Criminal Investigation , ATF , U . S . Marshals Service , and various police departments and investigative agencies in bringing down the Rollin 60 ' s Neighborhood Crips . This case is part of an investigation by the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces ( OCDETF ) . OCDETF goes after the big criminal organizations that pose a threat to the U . S .
