☷Gang Member Sentenced for Gang Related Activity Resulting in the Murders of 16 Year Old and 33 Year Old

According to court documents , Luciano , who was a leader of the Hammond faction of the Latin Counts gang , planned to shoot and kill members of the rival gang , the Latin Kings . The shooting took place during a vigil for a slain Latin Kings member in Hammond , Indiana , on June 29 , 2015 . Multiple shots were fired into the crowd , resulting in the deaths of Christopher White , 33 , and Lauren Calvillo , 16 . White was visiting family in the area , while Calvillo was on her family ' s front porch at the time of the shooting . This case is part of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces ( OCDETF ) investigation , which aims to disrupt and dismantle high - level drug traffickers , gangs , and criminal organizations . It utilizes a collaborative approach involving federal , state , and local law enforcement agencies . Eduardo Luciano , a 35 - year - old man from Hammond , has been sentenced for his involvement in various criminal activities . He was found guilty of conspiring to participate in racketeering , conspiring to distribute cocaine and marijuana , and using a firearm to commit murder . The sentencing was announced by U . S . Attorney Clifford D . Johnson . Luciano received two life sentences for each murder committed with a firearm . He also received a life sentence for conspiracy to participate in racketeering , along with 20 years in prison for conspiracy to distribute drugs . All of the sentences will be served concurrently . The investigation into this case was conducted by various law enforcement agencies , including the Bureau of Alcohol , Tobacco , Firearms and Explosives , the Hammond Police Department , the Federal Bureau of Investigation , the Drug Enforcement Administration , and several other local police departments . The case was handled by Assistant United States Attorneys David J . Nozick , Caitlin M . Padula , and Kimberly L . Schultz .
