Staff Sgt Travis Beeghley , a member of the Fort Belvoir Soldier Recovery Unit , reflects on the challenges he faced after tearing his right ACL in 2016 . He had to figure everything out on his own , which was tough . However , now being at the SRU , he has everything he needs right there and plenty of people to help him . Beeghley tore his left ACL and Meniscus in 2022 and decided to go to the Fort Belvoir SRU this time , which he wishes he had done before . He wants other Soldiers to consider going to an SRU and taking advantage of the help available . Beeghley also appreciates the opportunity to be involved in adaptive sports and help others while recovering . He is currently competing for a spot on Team Army at the 2024 Army Trials and hopes to compete at the 2024 DOD Warrior Games . Despite facing adversity , Beeghley encourages his fellow Soldiers to never lose hope and rely on the Army Recovery Care Program . Going into the med - board doesn ' t mean everything is over , and he urges others to take advantage of the help offered at the SRU while it ' s available .
