In a cool collaboration , the 107th Engineer Battalion of the Michigan Army National Guard is teaming up with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources to spruce up state parks . Starting this spring , the engineers will use their skills to build and fix things at Craig Lake State Park and Wilderness State Park . Some of the projects will make the parks more accessible for people with disabilities , which lines up with Governor Whitmer ' s park improvement plan . This partnership has been going on for a long time and has saved Michigan a ton of money . It ' s even expanding to include more engineer companies in different parts of the state . The Michigan National Guard and the DNR are pumped to work together to improve parks and give the soldiers some valuable training . Matthew Brolsma , the leader of the 107th Engineer Battalion , mentioned that working together in Michigan helped improve our team ' s skills for engineer missions in various countries like Kuwait , Iraq , Syria , Jordan , Saudi Arabia , and Qatar , as well as for future operations .
