Today , the United States is slapping sanctions on eleven individuals and three entities from Zimbabwe , including President Emmerson Mnangagwa , for their involvement in corruption or human rights abuses . These measures are part of a new , more focused approach to sanctions on Zimbabwe approved by President Biden . We are concerned about the serious corruption and human rights violations in Zimbabwe , with government officials being held accountable for their actions , including stealing public funds and committing acts of violence against citizens . The U . S . is dedicated to targeting those responsible for corruption and human rights abuses and urges the Zimbabwean government to adopt more transparent and democratic practices .
