In May of 2022 , Army Field Support Battalion - Germany gave Army Prepositioned Stocks - 2 equipment to National Guard Soldiers from the 28th Infantry Division during the DEFENDER exercise in Lithuania . It was during this exercise that Army Cpt . Andrew Marvets , who was serving as a company commander deployed to Europe at the time , first became familiar with APS - 2 and its capabilities . Now , as the operations officer for AFSBn - Germany , APS - 2 is his main focus . Marvets learned about APS - 2 while leading a movement control team during a rotational deployment to Europe in support of Atlantic Resolve . He is now in charge of APS - 2 at AFSBn - Germany and is happy with how things are going . During his rotation in Eastern Europe , Marvets had the opportunity to witness an APS - 2 operation in Lithuania during the DEFENDER 22 exercise . This sparked his interest in the logistics aspect of APS - 2 . As a company grade officer in a line unit , he was intrigued by the dynamic use of an APS - 2 unit equipment set , including hundreds of tactical vehicles and equipment pieces . After visiting the equipment site , Marvets dedicated a significant amount of time to researching and learning more about APS - 2 operations and its importance to the Army and joint forces in Europe . He was impressed by the speed at which an APS - 2 unit equipment set could be activated and moved within the European theater , providing valuable capabilities quickly . Currently , Marvets ' battalion has control over the APS - 2 worksite in Dülmen , Germany , and is responsible for all operations there . Later this year , they will also assume control over the Coleman APS - 2 worksite in Mannheim , Germany , as part of the 405th Army Field Support Brigade ' s regional alignment and transformation initiative . The Germany battalion has been working closely with Army Field Support Battalion - Mannheim to prepare for the future , according to Marvets . Marvets and his team at AFSBn - Germany will use their experience from the past 15 months in Dülmen and the knowledge gained from AFSBn - Mannheim to assist with the transition . Marvets emphasizes the importance of meeting with them now to understand their methods and challenges . AFSBn - Germany is also getting ready to support the DEFENDER 24 exercise , working with the U . S . Army Medical Materiel Agency to provide hospital equipment . USAMMA handles medical supplies , while AFSBn - Germany takes care of everything else . The Germany battalion is part of the 405th AFSB and is based in Vilseck , Germany . They are responsible for ensuring readiness and supporting military operations . The 405th AFSB plays a crucial role in U . S . Army Europe and Africa ' s power projection and warfighter readiness missions . They are under the operational control of the 21st Theater Sustainment Command . In Europe and Africa , we ' re doing all kinds of stuff to support the troops . We ' re making sure they have what they need , coordinating with other departments , and using our resources to help everyone work together .
