In a more laid - back announcement , the U . S . Attorney’s Office in Colorado shared that Titus Naranjo , 42 , received a 30 - month federal prison sentence for having firearms despite a previous felony conviction . Naranjo will serve his federal time alongside a Colorado prison sentence for a drug distribution offense . Naranjo , a known drug dealer in Monte Vista with multiple prior drug - related convictions , was caught with methamphetamine during a search of his residence in April 2021 . In November of the same year , he was found with a revolver and more methamphetamine during a search warrant execution . U . S . Attorney Cole Finegan emphasized the danger of armed drug dealers in communities , while Monte Vista Police Chief George Dingfelder and ATF Special Agent in Charge Brent Beavers highlighted the importance of targeting such individuals to reduce violent crime . The investigation was conducted by the Monte Vista Police Department and ATF , with prosecution handled by Assistant U . S . Attorney Jeffrey Graves . This case falls under Project Safe Neighborhoods , a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence in communities .
