☷USDA Appoints New Members to the Advisory Committee on Minority Farmers

The U . S . Department of Agriculture ( USDA ) has announced the appointment of 15 new members to the Advisory Committee on Minority Farmers ( ACMF ) . These members will serve terms of up to two years . Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack stated that minority farmers face unique challenges and the committee is part of USDA ' s commitment to ensuring equal access to programs and services . The newly appointed members include individuals from various states such as Alabama , California , Florida , and Georgia . The committee represents socially disadvantaged farmers , organizations , and educational institutions . Established in 2008 , the committee advises the Secretary of Agriculture on outreach programs and makes recommendations on increasing minority participation in USDA programs .
