Richard Ludwig II , a 74 - year - old from Independence , got sentenced on January 9th by Judge Greg G . Guidry for dealing firearms without a license . He pleaded guilty to three counts and received 36 months of probation , 12 months of home incarceration , a $5000 fine , and a mandatory $300 special assessment fee . Ludwig operated Tickfaw Guns in Independence and claimed to be a licensed Federal Firearms Licensee on his website , but he had actually failed to renew his license . ATF agents discovered that Ludwig had sold guns to prohibited individuals , and some of these guns were found at crime scenes . During their investigation , undercover ATF agents witnessed Ludwig selling firearms at a gun show in Mississippi . They purchased firearms and ammunition from him on two occasions . A search warrant was executed on December 1 , 2021 , and ATF seized 237 firearms , along with financial documents and computers , from Ludwig ' s gun shop . The seized computers and financial documents were used to maintain his illegal gun selling operation . This case was part of Project Safe Neighborhoods , which aims to reduce violent crime and gun violence in communities . The investigation was conducted by ATF and the New Orleans Police Department , and the prosecution was handled by Assistant U . S . Attorney Mike Trummel of the Violent Crime Unit .
