☷Salina Man Sentenced for Three Counts of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon

Today , a judge gave David Olice Sitsler , III a sentence of 96 months for three counts of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon with Intent to do Bodily Harm in Indian Country . After serving his time , he will also have three years of supervised release . The judge also ordered him to pay $625 in restitution . In February 2022 , Sitsler got into an argument with his wife and ended up shooting at the car she was in , hitting one of the passengers . Sitsler is a member of the Cherokee Nation and will stay in custody until he ' s transferred to the U . S . Bureau of Prisons . The ATF and Mayes County Sheriff ' s Department investigated the case , and Assistant U . S . Attorney George Jiang handled the prosecution . This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods ( PSN ) , a program that aims to reduce violent crime and gun violence and make our neighborhoods safer . On May 26 , 2021 , the Department of Justice launched a strategy to strengthen PSN by building trust in communities , supporting organizations that prevent violence , focusing on enforcement priorities , and measuring the results .
