☷Oregon Air Guard Pilot Conducts 142nd Wing s First EX Flight

   Five F - 15C instructor pilots from the Oregon Air National Guard’s 123rd Fighter Squadron are hanging out at Eglin Air Force Base for a couple of weeks to train in the F - 15EX with instructors from the 85th Test and Evaluation Squadron . Lt . Col . Joel Thesing , 123rd Fighter Squadron , took the first training flight on March 7 and shared his thoughts on the transition from the F - 15C to the new F - 15EX . Thesing praised the hard work of everyone involved in bringing the EX to the wing and expressed his excitement to be a part of the effort . He mentioned that the EX has some cool new features like more powerful engines and improved radar and avionics . The pilots are still getting used to the fly - by - wire flight controls , but they ' re looking forward to mastering the new aircraft and learning how to use it tactically . The Air National Guard plans to give the 142nd Wing 18 new EXs , starting with the first delivery this summer .
