Around 90 Airmen from the 173rd Fighter Wing at Kingsley Field in Klamath Falls , Oregon , recently headed to Joint Base Pearl Harbor - Hickam in Hawaii for exercise Sentry Luau . The Airmen from Team Kingsley worked alongside the Hawaii Air National Guard’s 154th Wing and the 19th Fighter Squadron , playing the roles of "Red Air" and "Blue Air" with their F - 22 Raptors . This exercise allowed the jets to improve their skills while flying with different types of aircraft not typically stationed with them in Hawaii . Sentry Luau was specifically designed to test the capabilities of the F - 22 Raptors against the older F - 15s in the Pacific Air Force domain . The integration of different generations of fighter aircraft is crucial for the Air Force to enhance its capabilities in real - world situations and be prepared to face any type of aircraft . The F - 15s provided valuable training by simulating threats at a long distance , and during the exercise , they completed over 100 flying hours and 68 sorties without any major maintenance issues . The Airmen involved in maintenance played a significant role in the success of the exercise , achieving a 100% flight generation success rate and exceeding the number of scheduled familiarization flights . Additionally , around 20 Airmen had the opportunity to participate in familiarization flights in the backseat of the F - 15 Eagles . This experience was a reward for their outstanding work throughout the year . The Airmen from Kingsley Field showcased their capabilities and teamwork , proving that regardless of the aircraft they fly , they always get the job done .
