Keith J . Jones , known as Keybo , and Kevin M . Backstrom have been sentenced to prison after being convicted for their involvement in a drug trafficking organization in Indianapolis . Jones received a life sentence for various charges including running a criminal enterprise and distributing controlled substances . Backstrom received a 30 - year sentence for conspiracy charges . Jones was the leader of the organization , distributing large quantities of methamphetamine , fentanyl , and cocaine in Indianapolis , while Backstrom was the supplier based in Los Angeles . The investigation led to the conviction of twenty - two individuals involved in the organization . Several other defendants also received significant prison sentences for their roles in the drug trafficking activity . The U . S . Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana emphasized the impact of drug overdose deaths and the efforts of law enforcement to combat the distribution of deadly drugs . McCormick , who heads the ATF ' s Columbus Field Division , emphasized the agency ' s commitment to working with partners to combat drug trafficking and associated violent crime . Justin Campbell , in charge at the IRS:CI Chicago Field Office , highlighted the threat posed by fentanyl and other dangerous drugs and emphasized the collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies . J . Michael Gannon , an Assistant Special Agent in Charge at the DEA , underscored the agency ' s dedication to dismantling drug trafficking organizations and holding individuals accountable for their actions . The investigation involved multiple agencies , including the ATF , IRS:CI , and local task forces , with support from the FBI and other law enforcement entities . Prosecutors Brad Blackington and Kelsey L . Massa handled the case , which was part of a larger effort by the OCDETF to target high - level drug traffickers and criminal organizations .
