☷Madison Man Sentenced to 54 Months for Illegally Possessing a Firearm While on Federal Supervion

Timothy M . O’Shea , the U . S . Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin , announced that 22 - year - old Ramogi Carr from Madison was sentenced to 54 months in prison by U . S . District Judge William M . Conley for illegally having a firearm as a felon and while under federal supervision . Carr had pleaded guilty to the charge on Jan . 10 . This sentencing came after Carr had already been sentenced to 15 months in federal prison and three years of supervised release for a previous firearm charge . On Sept . 6 , 2022 , a warrant was issued for Carr’s arrest for violating the conditions of his supervised release , and he was taken into custody on May 2 , 2023 , after a struggle with law enforcement officers in McFarland . During his arrest , a loaded handgun with a 30 - round extended magazine and a device that converted it to fully automatic were found on him . Judge Conley highlighted the danger Carr posed to the community with such a weapon . The case was investigated by the Madison Police Department , Fitchburg Police Department , and ATF . The prosecution was handled by Assistant U . S . Attorney Chadwick M . Elgersma . This case is part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods program aimed at reducing violent crime .
