☷Jury Convicts Springfield Man of Drug Trafficking Illegal Firearms

A guy from Springfield , Missouri got busted for selling valeryl fentanyl and having a bunch of guns . Darrell L . Smith , 34 , was found guilty of distributing valeryl fentanyl , possessing it with the intent to distribute , and having firearms for his drug business . His partner in crime , Eugene C . Saunders , 50 , pleaded guilty and got three years in prison . The cops raided Smith ' s place in August 2019 and found a big bag of valeryl fentanyl , along with individually wrapped baggies of the stuff . They also found a loaded magazine for a 9mm pistol , body armor , and seven loaded guns like a Smith & Wesson . 22 - caliber pistol and a Mossberg 20 - gauge shotgun . Smith is looking at a minimum of 10 years in prison , up to life . The judge will decide his sentence later . Assistant U . S . Attorneys Jessica R . Eatmon and John D . Hatcher are the ones handling this case . The Springfield , Mo . Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol , Tobacco , Firearms and Explosives did the investigation .
