Job Title: COURT CLERK
Department: CLERK OF THE SUPERIOR COURT
Starting Salary: $36,220 (Range 53)
Summary of Duties:
Coordinates court calendars, including scheduling court hearings; arranges for the availability of Spanish/English interpreters and a court reporter/tape recorder for hearings; inputs information into computer terminals to update cases and files; prepares minutes pertaining to cases; prepares warrants and citations to appear; copies files and documents and distributes as instructed; screens incoming calls and responds to questions from interested parties about judicial procedures.
Inputs charges listed in filed petitions, hearings, dispositions, and attorneys of each case; notifies appointed attorneys and provides them with appropriate case file; notifies agencies that oversee particular cases; enters traffic citations into computer and issues summons and subpoenas as appropriate; translates and maintains appointment schedule for justice courts; receives receipts and logs payments; serves the public on the phone and in person; takes notes of justice court sessions and hearings.
Transcribes notes; completes a variety for forms, reports, and records; processes passport applications and issues marriage licenses; receives, sets up, and completes file folders for criminal, civil, probate, guardianship, and adoptions; certifies documents, makes copies, files folders after use, and docket papers received from judges; takes notes of court sessions or hearings to prepare minute entries; processes complaints and warrants of arrest and prepares for judges signature.
Qualifications:
Two (2) years experience in clerical / legal work in an office or court.
