Hey everyone , guess what? The Biden - Harris Administration just announced that they ' re investing a whopping $20 million to help out Tribes and Alaska Native corporations and villages . This money is part of President Biden ' s plan to invest in America , and it ' s gonna be distributed through grants from the USDA Forest Service . The grants will help these groups tap into private markets for stuff like forest resilience , climate change solutions , and water quality . Deputy Secretary Xochitl Torres Small said that this funding will support Indigenous Knowledge and boost local economies . She made the announcement at a meeting of the National Congress of American Indians in Washington . This is all part of President Biden ' s plan to create economic opportunities and build a clean energy economy . There is also a $13 million agreement with the Denali Commission , which includes $10 million for grants to support Alaska Native landowners and $3 million for grant application and management support . The grants can be used for things like developing forest management plans , reforestation , creating demonstration sites , and protecting biodiversity . The main goal of the funds is to support participation in new private markets for climate mitigation or forest resilience .
