☷Alexandria Fentanyl and Gun Trafficker Sentenced to 15 Years

An Alexandria man got slapped with a 15 - year prison sentence today for teaming up with suppliers in Arizona and local dealers to sell large quantities of fentanyl in Virginia . Carrington Hammond , 29 , was also found guilty of selling firearms to support his drug operation . He and his crew would ship packages across the country filled with fake oxycodone pills laced with fentanyl . Law enforcement found one package with 50 , 000 of these dangerous pills . Hammond also dabbled in selling fentanyl powder and cocaine . During a search of his apartment , law enforcement discovered over five kilograms of fake pills , over two kilograms of fentanyl powder , over one kilogram of cocaine , 2 . 5 kilograms of marijuana , and two firearms . One of the guns was even a "ghost" gun , which means it didn ' t have a serial number and was likely made with a 3 - D printer . Hammond has a history of drug and firearm offenses , as well as violent crimes . Three of his accomplices will be sentenced in February . We teamed up with federal , state , and local law enforcement agencies to tackle criminal networks , using a prosecutor - led , intelligence - driven , multi - agency approach . The Washington/Baltimore High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area ( HIDTA ) task force lent a hand too .
