☷Alamogordo Man Charged with Possessing Unregistered Weapon Used in Police Officer Killing

Hey , guess what? Dominic Cruz De La O appeared in court on some charges for having an unregistered weapon made from a shotgun . He ' ll be staying in custody until his detention hearing on Feb . 22 , 2024 . Apparently , on July 15 , 2023 , De La O shot and killed a police officer during a traffic stop using a modified shotgun . The barrel was 16 inches long and the overall length was 25 . 5 inches . He had taken off the stock and put on a pistol grip . And get this , Jonah Apodaca allegedly gave him the modified shotgun . Apodaca , who happens to be a felon , appeared in court on Feb . 12 , 2024 , for having a firearm . He ' ll be staying in custody until his trial . But hey , let ' s remember that a criminal complaint is just an allegation and both of these guys are innocent until proven guilty . If De La O is convicted , he could get up to 10 years in prison , while Apodaca could face 15 years . De La O also has some state charges for first - degree murder and other stuff related to the officer ' s death . The Bureau of Alcohol , Tobacco , Firearms and Explosives , along with the Alamogordo Police Department , New Mexico State Police , and the Otero County Sheriff’s Office , worked on this case .
