☷Ukraine Delegation Visits Washington National Guard Leaders

A group from Ukraine recently visited Washington National Guard leaders on March 15th to express their gratitude for the support they received . The head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration , Ruslan Kravchenko , thanked the unit for their assistance during their deployment to Ukraine in 2021 . Kravchenko , along with Washington Governor Jay Inslee , signed an agreement to promote economic and academic exchanges between Kyiv Oblast and Washington state . Additionally , the city of Tacoma pledged to establish a Sister Cities relationship with Brovary , Ukraine . The visit to Camp Murray focused on sharing stories and strengthening the friendship that developed during the 81st Stryker Brigade Combat Team ' s deployment to Ukraine . The team provided training , equipment , and support to the Ukrainian armed forces . As the Russian forces began their attack on Ukraine in February 2022 , Washington Guard members had already returned home . However , their assistance had a significant impact on the success of the Ukrainian armed forces . The visit also highlighted the longstanding partnership between the California National Guard and Ukraine military , which began in 1993 as part of the National Guard State Partnership Program . This program aims to enhance interoperability , transparency , and knowledge of democratic military operations for partner nations .
