Among the construction projects currently happening at the FBI ' s Huntsville location are the Innovation Center and Kinetic Cyber Range , which are expected to be finished this summer , as well as Tech Buildings 2 and 3 . Despite not receiving any new construction funding in the Fiscal Year 2024 budget agreement , planned projects at the FBI ' s Redstone Arsenal campus can still proceed . The budget agreement does not cut previously allocated construction funds . According to a recent statement from FBI Redstone Public/Congressional Affairs Officer Alicia Irmscher , construction activities that were already planned can continue using funds from previous years . An article in the New York Times stated that a large portion of the budget cuts for this year came from eliminating construction funding at the FBI ' s Redstone campus , which had been included in the budget years ago by U . S . Sen . Richard Shelby of Alabama . The FBI currently has eight major construction projects in various stages , including training venues and facilities like the Innovation Center and Kinetic Cyber Range . Tech Buildings 2 and 3 , as well as a shared services warehouse and shipping and receiving expansion , are also in progress to improve logistical capabilities . The Multi - purpose Range Complex and Practical Problem Venues are currently being designed to accommodate training events , while the Academic Zone will provide advanced classroom training and research opportunities . There ' s another project called the National Security and Intelligence Center of Excellence . It ' s gonna be the place where they do advanced training , develop curriculum , and design instruction . The FBI is basically creating a whole system where they can come up with new and unique training programs and also create a safe place to practice different scenarios . But , there are some challenges for the FBI with their budget . They had to cut $32 million from their construction funding , which they need to maintain their campus and communication systems . And their salaries and expenses budget is $32 million less than last year and $500 million less than what they actually need . This means they won ' t have enough money to effectively combat terrorism , violent crime , drugs , and organized crime . It ' s also gonna limit their ability to fight cyber attacks and counterintelligence activities .
