☷AER annual campaign runs into USAG Okinawa

Participants at the St . Paddy’s Day 5K Color Run at Torii Station in Japan on March 16 , 2024 , got splashed with color . The run marked the start of the Army Emergency Relief campaign for U . S . Army Garrison Okinawa . AER offers grants , interest - free loans , and scholarships to help Soldiers and has provided $2 billion in aid to 4 million Soldiers so far . Lt . Col . Rachel Bowers , commander of USAG Okinawa , posed with Army Community Service personnel during the event . The run , organized by USAG Okinawa Family and Morale , Welfare and Recreation along with ACS , brought attention to the AER program . AER has been assisting Soldiers in need for over 80 years , offering various forms of financial aid . Karoushia Jordan , an ACS specialist at USAG Okinawa , highlighted the diverse financial assistance options available through AER . The main goal of the AER campaign is to make sure all active - duty , retired Soldiers , Family members , survivor spouses , and children of fallen Soldiers know about the financial help AER offers . They also have the chance to donate if they want . Jordan mentioned that AER wants to help every Soldier in need , and the campaign has been extended until June 14 to celebrate the Army ' s 249th birthday . If you ' re interested in donating , just contact your unit ' s AER coordinator or talk to ACS staff .
