   The US Department of Labor is hosting events in West Virginia for current and former coal miners with black lung disease and their families to help them file or refile claims for benefits . The program will take place on March 19 - 21 , 2024 , and is open to the public . No pre - registration is required . Director Mike Chance encourages attendees to learn more about eligibility for benefits under the Black Lung Benefits Act and get assistance with filing claims .
