☷Southern Strike Joint Combat Exercise Concludes in Mississippi

Military members from various branches of the U . S . armed forces recently took part in the Southern Strike 2024 - 1 joint combat exercise at Gulfport Combat Readiness Training Center . Around 425 personnel from different states participated in the two - week exercise , which focused on air operations . The second iteration of the exercise will prioritize ground operations in April . Training missions included contingency response , aeromedical evacuation , security forces operations , and aviation medevac . The exercise aims to prepare personnel for potential threats and conflicts . Airmen from the Hawaii Air National Guard also participated in the exercise , simulating operations in a hostile environment . The training provided valuable experience for potential real - world deployments . Aeromedical evacuation operations were also a key focus of the exercise , showcasing the Air Force ' s ability to provide medical support in various environments . “Joining Southern Strike will allow us to enhance our ground and air operations to ensure the best possible care for our fellow soldiers . Plus , visiting Mississippi in the winter is always welcome too!” saving the lives of frontline Americans , allies and partners . Gulfport CRTC can accommodate up to 100 fighter aircraft and approximately 75 larger airlift and tanker aircraft . Joint Forces Training Center Camp Shelby , located 60 miles north of Gulfport , is the largest government mobilization and training center in the United States . “Exercise Southern Strike allows our joint forces from across the United States to deploy to CRTC , Camp Shelby and other training sites in Mississippi and operate in austere expeditionary environments , ” said U .
