☷Iowa Guard s 132d Cyber Range Hosts Training Event

The 132d Wing in Des Moines , Iowa recently hosted its first training event for the Cyberspace Range Squadron . This squadron is the first of its kind for the Air National Guard and focuses on certifying cyberspace capabilities for the joint force . The training event was attended by members of the 168th Cyberspace Operations Squadron who used it as an opportunity to improve their skills on the weapon system . According to Capt . Joseph Wilburn , the training provided by the RANS team was unique and allowed operators to train in a realistic and holistic manner . The event demonstrated the significant impact that the RANS can have on Air National Guard cyber protection teams . The exercise aimed to enhance the proficiency of the 168th COS in detecting and responding to cyber threats . Lt . Col . Kevin Taylor , commander of the 132d RANS , stated that this first range event showcased the capabilities of the squadron and why Iowa is the ideal location for it . Capt . Chad McDonnell , director of operations for the 132d RANS , emphasized that the training events offer more than just a virtual range environment , as the RANS provides all the necessary roles and infrastructure for effective training . McDonnell also highlighted the importance of physical deployment and maintenance training for the operators . At the end of the event , the 168th COS received a document detailing their accomplishments and the tasks they completed to maintain their skills . McDonnell concluded by praising the experience and qualifications of the Airmen in the unit , stating that they are the greatest asset to the squadron .
